Once considered the 27th letter of the alphabet, I have always had an affinity for the ampersand. A symbol so captivating, with so much history and so much meaning. The symbol for a word that connects two things (“and”), is itself born of the merging of two letters, E and T (as in Latin ‘et’).

The artwork for this design (“Bare Exposure”) is one of my most popular, but did not go as planned, something I initially thought of as a failure. Experimenting with combining different media, yielded an unexpected result. It wasn’t until I looked at it from a new perspective did I see the stunning piece I had created. I was inspired to combine the unconventional beauty of this piece with the curvy beauty of the ampersand to create my logo, and this design.
